I would like to sincerely thank our parents and caregivers for the patience, understanding, flexibility and encouragement you have shown throughout this transition. Whether through kind words, practical support or simply trusting the process, your partnership has been deeply appreciated by our staff. Significant change inevitably brings challenges, but it also creates incredible opportunities, and your affirmation has strengthened us as we have worked together to make this transition as smooth as possible for our students.

To the new families joining the ����ֱ�� community this term, a very warm welcome. We are delighted that you have entrusted us with your children's education. We look forward to building a relationship founded on openness, mutual respect, trust and shared purpose as we work together to support every student's growth. At ����ֱ��, we believe that the strongest outcomes for young people are achieved when home and school work in partnership.

As a united College, we remain committed to our vision of Inspiring Lifelong Learners, Critical Thinkers and Caring Citizens in a Christian Community. This vision is more than just words on a page as it shapes every conversation, every classroom, every opportunity and every relationship at ����ֱ��.

A special acknowledgement this term goes to our Year 12 students and their families as they commence the final full term of their school journey. This is a season filled with excitement, anticipation and reflection. Over the coming months, may our Year 12 students embrace every opportunity, support one another and finish their schooling with courage and gratitude. My prayer is that God grants each student and their family His peace, wisdom, strength and blessings as they navigate this milestone.

One of the genuine joys of this stage of my life is that I now find myself having many of the same parenting conversations with my own adult children as they raise our grandchildren. It is a wonderful privilege to watch a new generation grow while sharing the lessons that life experience has taught Sylvia and me. Parenting remains one of life's greatest blessings and greatest responsibilities, and we are continually reminded that resilience, confidence and independence are developed through the everyday experiences children encounter. In this week’s newsletter, I would like to share with you Michael Grose's article on how everyday chores help build resilience and confidence in children.

Research consistently shows that genuine confidence is built through competence, contribution and a strong sense of belonging, rather than by removing every obstacle from a child's path. When children are encouraged to take responsibility, contribute meaningfully at home and school and work through everyday setbacks, they develop the resilience and self-belief that will serve them throughout their lives.

Simple opportunities can make a significant difference. Encouraging children to complete tasks they can do independently, contribute to family life without expectation of reward and persevere through frustrations helps them grow into capable, resourceful young people. As parents and educators, our role is not to solve every problem for our children, but to walk alongside them offering support, encouragement and guidance while allowing them to experience the satisfaction that comes from overcoming challenges themselves. Sometimes this is easier said than done, but backing off to allow them to grow through home experiences and expectations will add to the strong foundations being put in place for when they are young adults.

Finally, I would like to remind every family that ����ֱ��'s strong open-door philosophy remains central to who we are. We value honest, respectful and timely communication and encourage parents to contact us whenever questions arise, or support is needed, as we remain committed to partnering with every family in the education and wellbeing of your children.

I pray that Term 3 will be filled with learning, growth, new friendships, great memories and God's richest blessings for every member of our College community.

I stand in awe of the amazing work of the team at the Junior College, who have made the transition as smooth as it could be. A boarding staff member recently shared with me that they enjoyed hearing the happy noises of the children in the playground during the day.

As with all changes, there will of course be some teething problems and some people struggling with change more than others, but I think we have been blessed with a positive transition, and what a beautiful setting the primary students now enjoy!

As we continue to develop our master plan and lay strong foundations for the next 80 years of ����ֱ�� College, I certainly hope and pray that we can continue to journey together closely and foster a connected and welcoming community where students can discover and grow into their God-given potential.

At our staff opening service, we reflected on Psalm 96, which invites people to:

Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth (Ps 96:1). As we grow together as one college on one site, we are indeed learning to join together into a new harmony and each find our place in this divine choir. We give thanks to God for giving us the melody and placing us together here. And I pray that each of you will find your part in this new song.

We gather for worship every Sunday at 9am in the beautiful Chapel at ����ֱ�� on South Street, Harristown. Our contemporary worship services are designed to be engaging and accessible for people at all stages of life and faith. Families are especially welcome, and each service includes a dedicated children’s message, helping young people connect with God’s Word in meaningful and age-appropriate ways.

During the same period, Luca was also a member of the small vocal ensemble accompanying the performers in Your Song at The Empire Theatre, another excellent opportunity to perform in a professional theatre environment and collaborate with experienced musicians and performers.

Looking ahead, Luca has been invited to perform in Mockingbird, a concert presented as part of the Queensland Fringe Festival, to be held at The Empire Theatre on Thursday, 6 August.

We congratulate Luca on these achievements and wish him continued success in his musical theatre pursuits.

This week also welcomed our Year 5 students to campus for our STEM Discovery Day. Students had the opportunity to engage with specialist facilities and equipment while exploring the exciting possibilities that STEM offers in shaping a more innovative and sustainable future. Experiences such as these provide valuable opportunities for curiosity, creativity and problem-solving, while helping students see how science, technology, engineering and mathematics connect to real-world challenges and opportunities.

Our Agricultural Show Team continues to be a source of great pride for the College. As this year's show circuit draws to a close, we congratulate the team on its ongoing success, including outstanding results in Chicken Judging, Cattle Judging and Parading competitions. A particularly significant achievement at the recent Gatton Show was Georgia Cavanagh being awarded Best School Exhibition with our own Warrill Creek heifer, Velvet. But Georgia’s success is only one example of the tremendous work our students, staff and families who contribute so much to the success of the program.

The performing arts are also taking centre stage this week as many of our talented students showcase their skills at the Toowoomba Eisteddfod. Participation in events such as the Eisteddfod requires countless hours of practice and perseverance. We wish all performers and staff the very best and look forward to celebrating their efforts and achievements.

NAPLAN results were released this week, and once again ����ֱ��'s students have demonstrated strong academic achievement across the assessed areas. We are proud of these results and the commitment of our students and staff to academic excellence. At the same time, it is important to remember that NAPLAN represents only one measure of student learning. Standardised assessment data can provide valuable insights and help schools identify strengths, areas for improvement and broader trends. However, it does not capture the full picture of a child's growth, character, creativity, wellbeing, faith development, relationships or aspirations. At ����ֱ��, we value NAPLAN as one useful source of information among many that help us support every student to flourish.

There is also growing anticipation surrounding our 2027 College Musical. Clues have already begun appearing around the College, and the excitement is building. While the

official announcement is still to come later this term, students should note that auditions will be held on Friday 4 September. No doubt there will be plenty of speculation and enthusiasm as we move closer to the big reveal.

Looking ahead, we wish our Year 8, 10 and 11 students all the very best for their upcoming camps. These experiences provide invaluable opportunities for personal growth, challenge and connection. We also extend our encouragement to our Year 11 and 12 students as they prepare for mock examinations and internal assessments later this term.
